These incredible carvings are created using only knives, tweezers and surgical tools. Artist Brian Dettmer never adds or moves elements within the recycled encyclopedias and medical journals, instead simply removing and folding sections page by page.
A Collection a Day is an online project started by Lisa Congdon that’s also available as a hardcover book. Every day in 2010, Lisa photographed one of her collections arranged neatly on a white backdrop—vintage airline baggage tags, kitchen tools, children’s books about the sea, etc.
